SAN FRANCISCO BECOMES FIRST MAJOR US CITY TO BAN FUR

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted today to ban the sale and production of fur, making San Francisco the first major city in the US to pass such a ban. The fur ban was introduced and authored by Supervisor Katy Tang. In a statement, Supervisor Tang said her "hope is that it will send a strong message to the rest of the world.” With widespread media attention and major retailers like Versace and DKNY announcing they are going fur-free, it is likely that San Francisco is just the start and soon the entire fur industry will be eradicated

The ban goes into effect Jan 1st, 2019.
